Sign Of Hearing Loss
Hearing loss is a silent impairment, reason being it can appearsubtle, occur slowly over years or come about so suddenly. However, there are some common indications or signs and symptoms that may help individuals to raise the suspect of hearing loss in yourself or your loved one.
Some signs or symptoms may occur repeatedly or in combination. You might have hearing loss if you experience any of the signs or notices changes in your behaviour as follow;

1. You think that other people seems to mumble their words frequently.
2. You have difficulties understanding conversation in crowd/ noisy area like restaurant, conferences, meeting rooms or malls.
3. You have trouble understanding others if they are speaking from different rooms, far distance or turning away from you.
4. You often ask others for repetition or speak slowly, louder or clearly.
5. You have been told you speak too loudly.
6. Family members complain that you are ignoring them or response/answer inappropriate to context of the ongoing conversation/question.
7. You find yourself needing to turn up the volume of television, radio, telephone or others complain you turn the volume too loud.
8. You experience ringing in your ears.
9. You missed out phone calls, ringing of the door bells or does not notices the flowing water faucet or any common households’ appliances noise.
10. You tend to read lips or watches people’s faces more intently when they speak with you.
11. You find yourself slowly not wanting to engage in conversation or trying to avoid social settings.
12. You feel stressed out from straining to hear and annoyed at other people because you can’t hear or misunderstood them.
If you suspect you may have hearing loss, you may contact your doctor. Upon initial evaluation, he may refer you to an Audiologist.
If you have a sudden loss of hearing loss (either with unknown reason or traumatic exposure to explosive noise), in one or both ears, seek immediate medical attention from doctor.
